The PPGE has as its mission, capacitate nurses and other professionals for the process of production of knowledge and scientific update in ways that promote the advance of innovative knowledge and generate the transformation of policies and care and management practices in nursing and health, integrating nursing science knowledges to the knowledge from other fields.
Its focus are the current problems of health care and management in Brazil and in the world, that affect people throughout their life cycle, the families and communities. 

 

Mission

Aims

 

To fulfil its mission, the PPGE has as its aims:
• to stimulate the development of continuous questioning of reality, aiming to amplify the professional’s capacity to know and act in the context of people, families, social groups and colectivitie’s health and sickness process;
• to produce innovative and socially relevant knowledge for the health and nursing care in the health and sickness process;
• to stimulate reflective, communication and cooperation skills, needed to attend the demands of a dynamic and globalised health scenario in the promotion of health and nursing public policies and human resources.

 

Student's profile

 

The scientific and professional competencies and skills that define the expected profile of the master’s course alumnus are:
- to access the knowledge sources and systematise the knowledge search;
- to analyse the scientific advances about the study’s target in a way that grounds the decision-making for the clinical, educational and research practice;
- to identify the field’s state-of-the-art, gaps and tendencies in knowledge;
- to outline research problems;
- to analyse science’s method and study’s ethical aspects;
- to critically interpret research’s delimitations and results;
- to guide undergraduate students through scientific initiation and undergraduate thesis;
- to identify the students learning needs and contribute to the implementation of teaching programs in the field.

Beyond the expected profile of the masters’ course alumnus, the skills and competencies of the doctorate courses’ alumnus are:
- to plan and manage research projects consistent with the study area;
- to analyse and articulate the production and impact of the research in nursing, related fields e community;
- to demonstrate the acquisition of multiple perspectives of knowledge, integrating the one existing in the nursing field to the different knowledge fields;
- to guide post-graduation students at the master and doctorate levels;
- to demonstrate capacity to work within research groups and look for research funding.
